My Testimony

I was born again on December 29, 1998 at 7:15am. I was at Baptists Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC where my eight month old daughter was to undergo surgery for a heart defect. I was 54 years old.

Years before, in 1971, my wife gave premature birth to our daughter Elaine. Elaine was a tiny child but perfect in every outward respect. I prayed God would give her the strength to survive... it was not His will. Her lungs were not fully developed and were not able to support life. She lived for only two and a half hours.

I was angry at God. He had not answered my prayers. What I did not understand was that my life of sin had partitioned me from God... I did not know Him therefore He did not know me. I remained estranged from Him for another 27 years.

As I watched the orderly carry my baby down the hall to the operating room I asked Jesus to come into my heart.  I accepted Christ as my Savior, to trust in Him, that I might be cleansed of my sins and be justified before God so that I might offer prayer for my daughter's successful operation.

All that I knew at that time was that I was a sinner and that if I confessed my sins, repented of them and asked Christ for forgiveness I would be assured of Salvation. But in truth I had no real idea of what that meant, truly meant.

I prayed and my prayer was answered. My daughter is now a healthy happy nine year old and I have said a prayer of Thanks to the Lord every night since then. Other than that my spiritual life did not change much, I was still "kicking against the pricks" in many ways.

Then in 2005 the Holy Spirit moved me to fulfill the essence of my rebirth. It began Easter Sunday when we attended services. It was the first time we attended church as a Family and the first time I had attended service since childhood.

It was further strengthened when my daughter was invited to attend Vacation Bible School with the children next door.

Then at the seven year anniversary of my daughters surgery (Dec 2005) the Holy Spirit called me to witness for the Lord so that I might help lead others to Christ. This website is my humble attempt to fulfill that calling.

Am I now perfect? Hardly. However, I now know that I have Salvation by the Grace of God through Jesus Christ, my LORD and Savior. Praise God. Amen.

Chapel Door 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
